NPORS Operator Cards

NPORS Operator Card

Once successfully tested operators who do not wish to do the CSCS route card will be issued with the Traditional NPORS card as shown above. This card will last for 5 years and is accepted on almost all agricultural and some construction sites. This card does not show the CSCS logo on the card but can be transferred to the red trained operator card on completion of the relevant CSCS Health and Safety test.

NPORS Red Trained Card

Once successfully tested operators who do not hold the requisite (S)NVQ with the units applicable to the category of plant achieved will be issued with a Trained Operator card valid for 2 years from the date they were tested. During the two year period they will be required to register for and achieve the requisite (S)NVQ with the unit credits applicable to the category(s) of plant held on their Trained Operator card.

NPORS Blue Competent Card

On successful completion of the relevant NVQ and the unit credits applicable to the categories of plant held on their NPORS card will be issued with a Competent Operator card valid for 5 years from the date they were tested. Operators in receipt of the Competent Operator card will also be issued with a CPD record / operator logbook. This will be an ongoing record of the operators continual professional development.

CSCS Logo

In-line with the Government Strategy for Construction for a single logo that card schemes can work to, and as a result of the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) decision to award the single logo status to CSCS, the NPORS Construction Operator Card will in future be issued in line with the requirements stipulated by the CLC and will display the CSCS logo.

When booking your course/test please let us know if you require the NPORS/CSCS Card or the traditional NPORS card.

All operators who require the NPORS/CSCS card must have completed the CSCS health and safety test within the last two years.

Current NPORS Construction Cardholders.

Current NPORS Construction Cardholders can easily apply for a transitional NPORS/CSCS operator card through NPORS. This service supports both individual operators and employers, ensuring compliance with industry standards. The NPORS/CSCS card verifies practical and theoretical knowledge, enabling safe and competent work on construction sites. Guidance is available to streamline the application process and support professional development.

Existing NPORS Card Holder – No (S)NVQ Held.

For operators who do not currently hold the requisite (S)NVQ a Trained Operator card will be issued and valid for two years from the date of application. During these two years, operators will be required to register for and achieve the requisite (S)NVQ with the unit credits applicable to the categories of plant held on their Trained Operator card. Vally Plant Training can register you for the relevant plant operations level 2 (S)NVQ. Please call us for a competitive quote today.

Novice Operators:

Are individuals who have no real operator experience or previous training on the equipment which needs to be used. The individual will need to complete a full course which is designed to give theory and practical knowledge which will be taught and practised over the course duration. All courses also include all relevant Health And Safety Legislation. Please see the course for duration for a novice.

Experienced Operators:

Are individuals who have in the past completed an operator course be it internal or external. This will be classed as a Experienced Worker Test only. We will send you revision notes for the theory questions. NPORS say someone operating a machine every day for at least 6 months is probably more experienced than an operator who has had training but only operates once a year, we recommend at least 1 year operating experience to do the EWT.
