Trua is all about protecting your privacy. A key guiding principle and motivation for the creation of Trua is to put people in control of their personal information and to protect the privacy of that information. You own your personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information. Trust is the heart of the Trua product.

Services Covered by This Privacy Policy

Trua web-based applications including without limitation, TruaID, and TruaScore, (“the Application”) and which contains information (“Information”), collectively the Services (“Services”). This Privacy Policy covers how Trua handles personal data when you interact with us via the Application.


Who Operates the Services

The Trua services are operated by Trua, LLC (“Trua”).


Sale of Personal Information

Trua does not sell personal information.
We never sell or trade your personal data to third parties.


Categories of Personal Information We Collect

Trua may collect personally identifiable information (PII) that can be used to identify an individual, either on its own or when combined with other data. This may include:

  • Full name
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Phone number
  • Social Security number (partial or full, when authorized)
  • Biometric data

This information is used solely for identity verification, fraud prevention, and authorized service delivery.


Cookies, Pixels, and Tracking Technologies

Trua may use cookies and tracking pixels to improve functionality and user experience.

Cookies may collect information such as:

  • Visit dates and pages viewed
  • Click behavior
  • Device or browser information

Pixels help determine which application content you have already seen. These technologies are used to improve performance and usability, not to sell personal data.


Information Collected for TruaScore (Including Biometric Data)

When registering for a Trua account, we may collect:

  • Name and address
  • Date of birth
  • Phone number
  • Last four digits of your Social Security number
  • In some cases, your full Social Security number (with authorization)

This information is used to:

  • Create your Trua profile and score
  • Search third-party databases and court records
  • Verify identity and prevent fraud

All data is encrypted in transit and at rest.


Biometric Identity Verification

During registration, you may be required to:

  • Scan your U.S. State Driver’s License
  • Take a selfie using your smartphone camera

Trua’s facial recognition technology compares your selfie to the image on your license for identity verification and fraud prevention.

Biometric Data Handling

  • Biometric data is stored securely using encryption and restricted access
  • Third-party providers may assist with verification but do not retain biometric data
  • Third-party verification data is deleted within 90 days
  • Biometric data is deleted when you close and delete your account

If biometric data is deleted, re-registration is required to obtain a new Trua profile.


Payment Information Retention

Payment history information is retained in accordance with applicable law.


How We Use Personal Information

Personal information is used to:

  • Respond to your requests
  • Provide Trua services
  • Verify identity and prevent fraud

Your Trua profile, TruaID, or TruaScore is never shared without your explicit consent.
You control who you share your information with, when, and for how long.


Changes to This Privacy Policy

If this Privacy Policy is updated, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.


Third-Party Data Collection

Third parties may be used during the biometric verification process as described above.
No third parties independently collect personal data through the Trua Application outside these limited purposes.


Sharing of Personal Information

Trua may share personal information:

  • With data provider partners for identity validation
  • When required by law (e.g., subpoenas or legal requests)

Trua uses Stripe and its affiliates to process payments and transactions.


California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) Notice

If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to:

  • Request disclosure of personal information collected
  • Request disclosure of sources and purposes of collection
  • Request deletion of personal information
